Nice to meet you!
I’m Marisa, a junior at the University of Michigan studying User Experience Design.
Design has always found a way to shine in my life. From my humble beginnings as a hobby artist, to selling HTML code for forum designs as a pre-teen, to now designing innovative and user-friendly products for my career.
I started my academic journey as a computer science major. Coming into college with zero coding experience, I had no idea what to expect, or even if I’d succeed. However, I quickly realized I loved the creative freedom it gave — it opened an entire world for me. Anything I imagined, I could bring to life. I took quickly to problem-solving and logic, but realized my passions lie in the process of brainstorming the product itself rather than developing it. To explore this interest, I took a product design course and began to appreciate the complexity and importance of the design process. I decided to switch my path of study to User Experience Design, and am excited to bring what we once thought was science fiction — like AI and VR assistants — into the everyday experience.
In my life aside from art and design, I’m a heavy-lifting gymrat with love for espresso. I spend my free time painting animals, reading, and watching obscure Youtube essays about space. I enjoy travel and am always looking for my next adventure!
